Jessica's Book Review

THE DEAD
& THE GONE-
SUSAN BETH PFEFFER
RATING: rrrr
GENRE: -
MY REVIEW: This book made me cry. Dead & The Gone has suspense.
SYNOPSIS: Susan Beth Pfeffer’s Life as We Knew It enthralled and devastated readers with its brutal but hopeful look at an apocalyptic event--an asteroid hitting the moon, setting off a tailspin of horrific climate changes. Now this harrowing companion novel examines the same events as they unfold in New York City, revealed through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Puerto Rican Alex Morales. When Alex's parents disappear in the aftermath of tidal waves, he must care for his two younger sisters, even as Manhattan becomes a deadly wasteland, and food and aid dwindle. With haunting themes of family, faith, personal change, and courage, this powerful novel explores how a young man takes on unimaginable responsibilities.

SOPHOMORE SWITCH-
ABBY MCDONALD

RATING: rrrrr
5.0 out of 5 stars
GENRE:
FUN, LOVE, TEEN

MY BOOK REVIEW: This book is a easy read. The author really focus on two main characters, but also includes other characters to the plot. This is a very good book if your looking for a light read. Not only is there romance in this book like in a all teen books but it is also amusing. You can get a few laugh in.

SYNOPSIS: Take an administrative snafu, a bad breakup, and what shall
heretofore be known as "The Hot-Tub Incident," and you’ve got two unprepared sophomores on a semester abroad. For American party girl Tasha, an escape to Oxford may be a chance to ditch her fame as a tabloid temptress, but wading Uggs-deep in feminist theory is not her idea of a break. Meanwhile, the British half of the exchange, studious Emily, nurses an aching heart amid the bikinis and beer pong of U.C. Santa Barbara. Soon desperation has the girls texting each other tips — on fitting in, finding love, and figuring out who they really are.
